This summer saw Balloon Circus receive our official charity status from the U.K. Charity Commission so we were now all set up to embark on the mammoth task of writing to grant making trusts and corporate sponsors
We had an amazing summers fundraising where we had a fantastic response to this years raffle, including all our private donors we had all the staff from U+I London have a whip round.
A huge thank you also goes out to all our returning sponsors BA, Oddballs, Qualatex, Rekorderlig, Chase & Verzon House, Nicodemus and Crescent Comics plus our new ones, Moët, Hamleys, Black Pig with White Pearls and the girls from Chanel.
With all in place we were ready to get back on the road. So first stop back to Thailand and up to the orphanages in Khao Lak. There are four up there that were all set up after the 2004 Tsunami and are still going strong with new children coming in every year. All of them grow their own organic vegetables for the children to eat but also are ready to sell and some also make soaps and coconut oils. We are trying to put hotels in touch with each of them to strengthen ties within the community and promote trade where possible.
It was lovely to see all the kids again, most of them remembered us and all we had taught them, we managed to bring some new equipment in for them to try and we stayed with them so we were able to spend a bit more time and taste some of their delicious home cooked food.
It was a real treat to be able to start this year’s tour there first before jumping into the unknown of a new country.
