Our Aim

Our aim is to provide each child with the opportunity to play in a creative environment increasing essential, social and emotional development.

Our Approach

Balloon Circus works directly with children in difficult circumstances at a grass roots level.
We reach as many children as possible to provide them with something that can be forgotten in the face of adversity – a child’s right to play.
We work alongside other charities, complementing the amazing work already taking place.
In addition to providing a fun and educational day, we leave a circus pack in each place for the children to enjoy after we leave.

Our Team

Jenny AlexanderFOUNDER

Jenny, Founder of Balloon Circus, trained as an actor and fell in love with circus and street entertainment. With 20 years experience of working with children and performing in events entertainment, her specialities include fire shows, stilt walking and balloon modelling. She set up the charity to share her skills with children who wouldn’t normally get the chance to experience all the fun of the circus.

Somsak Thongrot (Bow)WORKSHOP LEADER

Bow, workshop leader of Balloon Circus, trained in Thailand as a rock climbing instructor and has been teaching climbing and Muay Thai kick boxing to children and adults for 20 years. Also working in events entertainment as a fire performer and balloon modeller, his passion of working with children has led him to teach all the workshops for Balloon Circus since its set up.

Our Trustees

Kate WalmsleyTRUSTEE

Kate is a Partnerships Project Manager with a social enterprise working in the health sector. She has a background in corporate responsibility, community investment and diversity and inclusion.

Michelle HarrisonTRUSTEE

Michelle trained as a dancer but moved into work across a wide range of sectors, spending over five years at a national children’s charity on health projects. She is now Head of Business and Operations and Company Secretary for a national, health-based social enterprise. Her skill mix and broad experience brings governance, editing, design and finance support in her role as a Trustee for Balloon Circus.

Miranda Voyle-WilkinsonTRUSTEE

Miranda is a Psychotherapist who has a lot of experience working with children. Previously a city Solicitor, she is able to apply her commercial mindset to BC, balanced with an understanding of the importance of playful interaction for children who have suffered loss and emotional deprivation.

Neil HarrisonTRUSTEE

Neil works for an environmental organisation and has experience delivering various projects including national behaviour change campaigns. He has a background in sustainable design & innovation, project management and has produced websites and applications for a wide range of clients.

Chris WrightTRUSTEE

Chris is a qualified ESL and primary school teacher with over 10 years of experience working in international settings. He is passionate about widening access to education and unique learning experiences.
